Twilight Flower

i took this photo this evening as i was heading out the door just before dusk. My chrysanthemum stencil is lit from the window behind.

Coloring book- page 1

Here's the first in a series of pages i'm posting from a coloring book i'm designing. It's formatted to fit an 8.5 X 11 sheet of paper and should print out pretty easily. Just click on it to save it to your desktop and click print.

It snowed for a little while tonight. i was so excited... SNOW!! here it is lit up by porchlight light before turning to rain.

ok look, i know this video sucks, i'm sorry. i've spent my life in Texas, Florida and Georgia, and snow is a big deal.

Here's a pattern i made tonight that you can print out and use for gift wrap. Click (or double click) on the pattern to save it to your computer. It will seem huge, but it's formatted to fit on a standard size sheet of paper.

i finally got my paintings uploaded to my web site tonight. It's funny how you'll put something off because you think it's going to take forever and then it turns out to take like half an hour.


These are old paintings. All my new stuff is smaller, so it sells before i can get it posted.

New Chrysanthemum in Town

I know you can't see it too well, but here it is on the roof of the Jittery Joe's Coffee Roasting Company on E. Broad in Athens. i chose the bottom photo because i thought it was pretty how it matched the sky and clouds. Many thanks to Charlie Mustard for his support of the arts in Athens. The first tote bag of the run

Here is the first tote bag printed today by Satisfactory Printing here in Athens. More to come on those guys later, but for now you can check them out at satisfactoryprinting.com. The bags are sturdy cotton canvas, printed on both sides and will be available on my web site soon.

Blazberry Hwy

At last Blazberry Hwy, the bus shelter designed by ADD (the design group i belong to), is finished, installed and ready to be defaced by hoodlums. It's such a relief to have it done. i drank SIX glasses of champagne at the city-wide celebration tonight. Good thing i was on my bike.

Here's a little video of the parlor trick. It's only a few seconds long.

Bird and Cage

An old parlor trick, so i've heard.


Here are the instructions:

1.Click on the image to save to your computer, then print onto heavy card stock.
2.Cut out one image and glue it upside down onto the back of the other, then cut them both out together (don't cut out the little strings, they're just for show).When you look at it through the light, the bird should be upside down in the cage.
3.Punch holes as indicated.
4.Cut 2 pieces of heavy string about 8-10 inches long. Make a loop on the end of each string large big enough for your finger to fit through, and tie the other end through the punched holes.
5.Put the loops over your index fingers and wind up the paper by flipping it 10 or 20 times or until the strings start twisting up.
6.Pull the strings. The bird appears to be in the cage. This was waaay before television.

MAKE a rubik's cube out of dice !!

Oh the glory of nerdhood, i just love Make magazine. I was searching for info about how to make ringtones, and came across this Makezine video on how to make a rubik's cube out of dice.

Paper for folding a paper crane

Double-click or right-click on this pattern to save it to your computer. It will probably look really huge- but it will print out as an 8" square. After you print it out, cut out the pattern into a perfect square and use for origami. To find instructions for folding a paper crane, here are some links:

The Lo Shu Square

Also called a Magic Square.


Each row adds up to 15.









You'll notice that the even numbers are out-numbered by the odd numbers. They're also located in the corners of the square. According to Chinese legend, the Lo Shu square appeared 4000 years ago on the back of a turtle that crawled out of the Lo river. They believed that the universe is based on mathematic principles, and that these numbers were the key to invisible forces that governed heaven and earth.
